A new sample kit: Tchackpoum Big Beaty Rock Kit

The first sample kit created by a random BeatEd user is now online!

A BeatEd fan Robenestobenz had arranged the kit using selected free samples from http://tchackpoum.free.fr web site. In his own words: "I've just put the kit together with a little bit of dynamics processing here and there. It's a very stripped down snare, kick, hats & toms kind of deal, but I've found it pretty good". The Tchackpoum kit is available from downloads page.

It seems that there will be more user created kits coming. Stay tuned!

PayPal has finally (after 1.5 weeks of struggling) finished their process to re-open my account so donate button is working again! So if you like BeatEd, feel free to donate some sum covering the development costs!

The upcoming v1.11 release and 4 brand new sample kits are almost ready, and donations would certainly increase the motivation level and speed up the release!

Coming soon..

I have a brand new v1.11.00 with improved sample kit support almost ready for launch. It just needs some testing, so maybe tomorrow..? I think we'll also get some additional sample kits available for download as well (CR78, TR808, TR909 synth kits and GameBoy 8-bit chip tune kit).

And then some information for all eager donators out there. My new PayPal account has been in limited mode for a week and a half now. That means all transactions are denied until they open the account. I'll inform here when donations are available again, I hope you can wait until that :)

The first official release v1.10.00

After exactly one month since the first BeatEd version, I'm happy to announce that the first official release v1.10.00 is now out and available for downloading.

It should be quite bug free now, although there are certainly a lot of features that could be added or improved. But hey, this is the first actual release!

Videos showing BeatEd in action:
YouTube video
XVID video

(Sorry about the crappy sound quality. It's due to the camera mic, not the software:)

Custom sample kits

I just wrote a brief instructions for creating your own sample kits for BeatEd.

See the custom sample kit instructions

In short, get 16 audio samples and convert them to the RAW format. Then write a sample kit definition file for your samples and copy files to your phone into the BeatEd data path. Kit files will be then available for BeatEd through Load sample kit function.

BTW, I would be happy to have some other sample kits than the current default rock kit included in the download page. At least 808 synth kit and Commodore 64 SID kit would be great additions! Contact me if you have made a good kit, I can pack it in the SIS file and include it to the download page.
