I have just released the latest v1.20.00 of BeatEd drum machine for S60 mobile phones. I haven't done very extensive testing for this, but I'm pretty confident that it works as well as the previous version. If you find any bugs or have something to comment about the new release, please comment here or email me. Beat on the brat!
The v1.20.00 should install over the previous install. Previous sample packs work with the new version.
The new version is available at: Downloads
New features:
- ADDED: Export/import submenu: Send and receive beats over MMS/Bluetooth messages. Export beats to WAV or AAC audio file and share, use as a ringtone, or whatever.
- ADDED: Export settings: Export file format (WAV/AAC). Export bitrate (only for AAC). Export loop count.
- ADDED: Cross fading between samples to prevent clicks due to uncontinuity and to achieve smoother sound.
- CHANGE: Track number moved to header line to get more space for sample name.
- ADDED: A new TEST mode added to edit view. In TEST mode every new hit is played separately. Green phone key now toggles between EDIT-PLAY-TEST.
- ADDED: Tap tempo mode. Tap '#' key in play view to set tempo. First press enables tap tempo mode and four frequent presses sets tempo to the average of presses.
- CHANGE: Settings views softkeys changed from Save/Back to Options/Done.
- CHANGE: Pattern settings opened automatically after new pattern command.
Fixed issues:
- Some minor fixes there and there.
Known issues:
- Screen update performance and audio sync could be better..
- Tap tempo timing is not very accurate.
- WAV/AAC files may not be compatible with all MMS capable phones.

BeatEd fan Berengar has provided me a new sample kit containing a set of crunk samples. By his own words: "Typical Crunk Samples. Including 9 Drums, 6 Effects and 1 Vocal. Designed for Freestyle Sessions.". Check it out!
And we still need more sample kits, keep sending them. I'm still waiting to have that C64 SID kit!

Dirk 'Druki' Brundelius has arranged a quite unusual, maybe even weird, sample kit of sound effects recorded from a basketball game. The kit is available from the download page. Check it out!

The first sample kit created by a random BeatEd user is now online!
A BeatEd fan Robenestobenz had arranged the kit using selected free samples from http://tchackpoum.free.fr web site. In his own words: "I've just put the kit together with a little bit of dynamics processing here and there. It's a very stripped down snare, kick, hats & toms kind of deal, but I've found it pretty good". The Tchackpoum kit is available from downloads page.
It seems that there will be more user created kits coming. Stay tuned!
