Some progress with S60 5th.

I had to reinstall all my Symbian development stuff and I noticed that Nokia had discontinued it's support for Visual Studio S60 dev tools. I made decision to install latest Eclipse based Carbide.c++ instead and move all my BeatEd stuff on that. This made also possible to add S60 5th edition as a build platform. Now, after couple of evenings of hard work, I have my project in Carbide and it compiles, links, and runs both on S60 3rd edition and 5th edition!

This doesn't yet mean that it actually works on 5th edition. There are still major shortcomings with UI, because e.g. Nokia 5800 does not have any keypad or navigation keys so using BeatEd is now very limited. But still, every functionality you can access works well, including playback. So now it only requires that I'll implement some kind of touch UI. I have drawn some sketches on paper of tool bar from where you could access those functionality normally used with keypad. Let's see when I do have time and motivation to start implementing those plans.

The fact is that I hate that crappy Nokia 5800 device, but I also see that there are more devices coming, e.g. N97 and Samsung Omnia HD. Obviously touch based UIs are really coming to S60 this year and that must be the way of the future for BeatEd, too.

I'll come back with more news and probably some beta release when I have got something concrete done.

I just compiled the whole application from the scratch and now it seems to be working. I also updated the version number from v1.20.02 to v1.20.03 just to know which one is which. No other changes besides the updated certificate.

IMPORTANT NOTICE!

DOWNLOAD DOES NOT WORK
It seems that I managed to break the BeatEd install package while updating the certificate, so currently you can not download and install the application. I don't know the reason yet, but it seems that the app crashes immediately after start-up. I'll try to fix that as soon as possible, probably this evening. Please be patient!

BREAKS ON SERVER
Also, there have been some service breaks because our server has been moved to a different machine yesterday. These breaks may continue for few days since there is still lots of maintenance work ongoing.
